One of our most valuable environmental initiatives is not a product development or manufacturing improvement, it is our commitment to the green building movement.
The U.S. Green Building Council has created the most comprehensive, useful method through which to evaluate green building technology and methods. Their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system allows every component of a building to be evaluated, and business decisions to be made that save both natural and financial resources.
Mannington has been a member of the USGBC since 1998, and we have increased our involvement every year. We are a sponsor of their yearly Greenbuild conference and have promoted the organization in our showroom at NeoCon, the interiors industry trade show in Chicago.
Since we think involvement should be more than a name on a sponsorship list, we've created our own "Learn to LEED" educational tool to teach our associates and customers about LEED and how our products can contribute points towards certification.
Mannington also sponsors the Greener Buildings website, a business resource for green building practices. The site contains information and resources on topics including architecture and design, building materials, energy use, facility management, interiors, land use, waste management and water use.
