Our History
Vertical Divider In business since 1915 and privately owned for four generations, Mannington Mills is based in Salem, New Jersey. Mannington holds numerous patents on equipment improvements, and our quality control leads the industry.

In 1915 John Boston Campbell and his sons Neil and Kenneth started a little floor covering Company in Salem, New Jersey. John Boston Campbell believed in hard work, honest dealing, faith, family and community.

From a small floor covering manufacturer in the farmlands of Salem County New Jersey, the company has grown, expanded, and innovated. Felt-backed products gave way to vinyl technology in the mid 20th Century. The company grew to produce business carpet, wood, and laminate floor coverings, in addition to vinyl. Mannington survived two catastrophic fires, wars, the economic crisis of the Great Depression, and a disastrous collapse of the carpet plant in Calhoun Georgia during a blizzard.

In all the years since its founding, the values of hard work, honest dealing, faith, family, and community that informed John Boston Campbell still enlighten Mannington's daily life as the company enters the 21st Century still owned by the Campbell family.

Led from Corporate headquarters in Salem, New Jersey, Mannington today continues successfully to produce high quality flooring products that have received numerous awards for their outstanding style and design. Mannington has also won awards as best flooring manufacturer for many years, and the two business units of Mannington – commercial and residential – work together as "One Mannington" to produce top quality flooring products at four plant locations in Alabama, Georgia, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
