ISO 14001 Certified

When we tell you we are committed to doing the right thing, how do you know what we mean by the right thing? For that matter, how do we know? We turn to the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) for some clarity and measurable standards. The ISO sets and maintains all kinds of standards for business and industry, and ISO-certified systems meet management standards that are recognized worldwide.

ISO 14001 specifically monitors actions that may affect the environment, to ensure that they are understood, planned, controlled and checked. This certification is a path to continual improvement through rigorously documented steps toward specific environmental goals. Certification also includes significant training and system auditing, so all those involved are aware of and can improve upon their actions.

Mannington has implemented ISO 14001 for the environment, together with ISO 9001 for quality control, at our Salem Inlaid operation. The result is a highly organized and structured approach that ensures the efficient, effective management and continual improvement of our environmental and quality systems.

As ISO standards require rigorous system verification, a third party registrar audited our system in November of 2004. We proudly passed with flying colors, receiving certification with zero deficiencies.

This third party certification is for the way we run the entire facility, so it means we have an ISO certified plant, not an ISO certified product. We do expect product quality to improve , and our environmental footprint to decrease, as a result of these efforts.

Having completed the certification of our Salem Inlaid plant, we are now in the early stages of doing the same at our Salem VCT plant and our carpet plant in Calhoun, both of which should be ready for ISO registration in 2005.
