Product

If you want to see beautiful examples of our commitment to the environment, look at our products. The culmination of everything we do, we know we must achieve maximum performance while minimizing resources.

That’s why every Mannington product goes through our rigorous STAGE/GATE process. Environmental responsiveness is built right into each product through our “Design for Environment” process. We research market needs to be sure our product delivers precisely the performance needed, and subject each product to up-front testing and evaluation to decrease changeover time, product rejects, and manufacturing waste.

This level of critical thinking has lead to product design innovations like ArtCraft, composed entirely of post-production yarn, Relay, with 40% recycled content, Streamlines, our lower face-weight carpet, and as of spring 2005, Cameo, composed entirely of polyolefin. It has also pushed us to continually increase recycled content in all our products, such as the 1.5% recycled content by weight in our VCT (1.5% may sound boring, but it means that about 25 tons per week of plant waste doesn’t go to landfill).

It also means we look above the floor – to the air. Indoor air quality is a growing concern, and we have taken it seriously. Our products both meet the CRI GreenLabel and GreenLabel Plus standards and the CHPS 1350 IAQ standard. We have worked with our vendors to make sure our adhesives also meet these standards.

We’ve also looked to the future – to when you are done with the product. Even if it is just a sample, there is our Boomerang sample return program. We are involved in the reclamation commitments of the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE), and can help you recycle rather than landfill your product. Even our carpet tile seconds are reused – we donate them to local charities, churches, schools and civic groups.
