Are browns and neutrals still in? What about orange tones and reds? Check back
soon to find out. Color Trends 2009 coming soon.
Brown
It might as well be called the new Black. It's important not only because of its hue, but
also because of its ability to work with every other color family. Mocha, which has a bit
of a red influence seems to be the direction. And Beige is part of the resurgence of neutrals
because they have a high-end appeal and work well with the minimal Loft Trend.
Red
Red has established itself as mainstream. For 2006, watch out for a significant
color shift from Brick and Maroon to Burgandy, with its blue influences creeping
into the color stage.
Orange
This season, Orange is coming in a variety of shades. It's carrying brown influences
in rusted personalities, such as Rush and Terracotta. Orange still has a lot of
visibility, however it feels newer as an accent color.
Peach
On the lighter side of Orange, Peach has been absent since the 1980's. Fresh Peach
tones are looking new and are working as skin-tone neutrals. This is being seen in
tile, accessories, and fashion.
Yellow
Be on the watch... in 2006, Yellow will be stealing the spotlight from the brown palette.
Yellows with a buttery flavor are finding broad acceptance in traditional and American
Country trends.
Green
Vibrant grassy hues are appearing in the bright range. Browned cast greens in
Olive hues are also an important color. Having broader exposure in 2006 will be
the Emerald/Kelly palette. We are already beginning to see it in accessories ranging
from dishware to tile.
Blue
Continuing into 2008, Blue will be seen as the comeback family. Blues that focus on
Turquoise and Teal are new to the home market and are being used in everything from
paint to accessories. In the classic arena, Navy can't be ignored. It looks fresh
with the combination of white and it also comes in the form of Cobalt-China Blue.
Purple
To a very light degree, we are beginning to see the presence of Purple and the color
family will be coming directly from fashion apparel and will be a major addition to
the 2006 home palette. Lilac will fill the void that Pink is leaving behind.
Gray
Gray is the new neutral for 2006 and will be warming up, so much so, that it will be
hard to tell the gray from the brown.
