MANNINGTON FINDS ECO-FRIENDLY WAY TO HELP HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
SALEM, NJ, May 30, 2018—Since its founding in 1915, Mannington has been dedicated to "doing the right thing” in all ways, including the support of local communities. One program in particular is Habitat for Humanity, a partnership that has grown over the last several years.
Mannington’s association with Habitat helps in a unique way that benefits the environment—by donating flooring used in the company’s trade show booths and for new product photo shoots that, otherwise, may have been discarded and ended up in a landfill.
Carriage Oak hardwoods were among the 16,000 square feet of flooring that Mannington donated to the
Greater Greensboro, North Carolina, Habitat for Humanity ReStore following a marketing photo shoot.
Recently, Mannington donated over 20,000 square feet of flooring to two Habitat for Humanity ReStores. Over 16,000 square feet of sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl tile, laminate and hardwood flooring went to the Greater Greensboro, North Carolina, Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The flooring, used for a marketing photo shoot, was like new but couldn’t be sold at retail because it had been temporarily used in the room set for the photo shoot. Founded in 1987, Habitat Greensboro builds about ten homes annually; and its ReStore opened in 2000.
Mannington donated about 4,000 square feet flooring from its
Las Vegas Surfaces trade show booth to the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
The Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity ReStore recently received about 4,000 square feet of like new laminate, hardwood and commercial carpet that Mannington had used in its Surfaces trade show booth. Founded in 1991, Habitat for Humanity of Las Vegas builds single family homes throughout Clark County for working families earning less than 80% of area media income. Its first ReStore opened in 2007, and a second one opened in 2010.
“I can’t think of a better way to support local communities than partnering with Habitat and its ReStores,” says Betsy Amoroso, Mannington’s Sr. Director of Corporate Communications. “The flooring that Mannington donates is first-quality and, for all intents and purposes, is brand new. In Habitat ReStores, homeowners can purchase the at a significant discount, with the proceeds going to this worthy cause. This also helps the environment by diverting flooring from landfills. It’s a win for everyone involved.”
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are discount home improvement and donation centers that sell gently used home improvement and decorative items, with the proceeds going toward serving their missions.
Mannington supports a number of charitable programs across the U.S., focusing on communities where it has operations. For more information, visit mannington.com.
