Mannington on HGTV’s Rock the Block: Living Rooms & Spaces

In episode two of season five of HGTV’s Rock the Block, the design teams worked on building out the “dream it, build it” main floors of their homes. Since the designers are working with blank-slate homes without defined spaces, space planning is one of the key challenges they need to navigate. In the season five premiere, the designers created kitchen and dining areas which served as the starting point for all other decisions they would make on the first floor. This week, they worked on creating living rooms and other adjoining spaces. Since the show is all about who can add the most value to the home they work on, the designers focused a lot on two types of spaces that tend to improve a home’s value: bedrooms and bathrooms.

This season, the designers are using Mannington ADURA® Luxury Vinyl flooring in many areas of their homes and we love seeing how they use it to transform these spaces. Without further ado, let’s take a look at how they used it in this episode!

Team 1: Page & Mitch

Page and Mitch continued their Coastal Chic design theme by bringing the Mokuzai luxury vinyl flooring in Autumn Leaf flooring, part of Mannington’s ADURA®APEX luxury vinyl line, out from the kitchen and into the living room, as well as into a laundry room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The bifold windows from their kitchen were a big hit with the judges in episode one, so they kept that theme going by installing a doorwall in the living room to let in even more natural light and take advantage of the beautiful view. They also added some great ceiling detail in the living room and a home office that’s full of surprises, which the judges loved.

Team 2: Keith & Evan

When the judges walked into Keith and Evan’s Organic Modern living room, they said they felt like they were at a five-star resort. The ADURA®Max Kona luxury vinyl plank flooring, in the color Sunrise, they used in their kitchen and dining area carries over into the living room and two bedrooms, with a large white rug in the living room to add some space definition. The living room also features a glass door wall, fireplace, and beautiful ceiling detail that adds a luxurious, old build touch to the space. Keith and Evan were also able to create two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor in a way that left the judges impressed by Keith and Evan’s space planning.

Team 3: Lyndsay & Leslie

In the season five premiere, Lyndsay and Leslie fully embraced wood plank flooring. They used Mannington’s Sonoma luxury vinyl flooring in Cork, part of the ADURA®Max collection, on the kitchen floor and that look continued into the living room by using the same planks on the floor to create a cohesive look.

Lyndsay and Leslie decided on a Tropical Paradise theme for their home, but in this episode, they went even further and decided to call the house a Mullet House: business in the front, party in the back. The living room area has strong tropical vibes with plants and a large doorwall, but is more subdued compared to the hallway, bedrooms, and bathrooms on the first floor, which feature bold design choices like a Golden Girls inspired guest suite and pink tiles and sink in a bathroom. As the judges said, this house emphasizes the “fun” in functional.

Team 4: Bryan & Sarah

Bryan and Sarah brought some serious wow factor to their Natural Zen living room by covering the ceiling with vellum and adding some illuminated circular detailing, which left the judges awestruck. They also carried over some design features from their kitchen area, such as the curved wall and Mannington’s Swiss Oak luxury vinyl flooring in Truffle from the ADURA®Max luxury vinyl family, which was also used in the bedrooms. The living room also has some fantastic features like a bar area with sink, a built-in banquette, and a large sliding glass door system.
